Cooking in the Canyon

Can’t boil an egg? Don’t know the difference between blanching and braising? No worries. Campus Dining along with Cal Poly University Housing has put together a series of one-hour cooking lessons for the culinary challenged. Every Tuesday, a Campus Dining chef will help students, faculty and staff prepare a recipe and share culinary tips and tricks along the way. Held in the teaching kitchen in Canyon Cafe, the class size is limited to 25.

Cooking in the Canyon Team Building Events

Campus Dining invites the Cal Poly community to experience a team-building event like few others with a private Cooking in the Canyon class. The hands-on cooking course will include instruction in specialty cooking techniques, all the ingredients and equipment necessary, and recipes to take home. Available Monday through Friday, these private, two-hour Cooking in Canyon classes are highly informative and fun.

Reserve a Class

Classes are available Monday - Friday for two hours in Canyon Cafe


Menus for classes include: Sushi Making, Appetizer Party, and Pasta Making


Classes will include all necessary ingredients, as well as samples


Local craft beer and wine will be included for groups over 21. For guest groups under 21, refreshments and mocktails will be provided.


Each class will learn the speciality techniques that go into making the entree and get to take the recipe home


Max occupancy for each class is 20 guests
