Campus Dining continues to dedicate growing resources, time and energy to creating innovative processes and practices that ensure a safe and enjoyable dining experience. The health, safety and wellbeing of all students, faculty, staff and associates will always be the main focus of every decision Campus Dining makes. Our actions are guided by the university, which is following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health authorities. We will continue to update this page as new guidelines are released.
The 2020-21 academic year saw the implementation of new programs and protocols designed to help keep the campus community safe. During the current 2021-22 academic year, many of these procedures remain in place. The expanded to-go options served with recyclable packaging and increased cleaning, still apply. And mobile ordering through Grubhub just makes sense. Like all good students, we continue to learn, adapt and commit to what works.
As of Feb. 18, 2022, masks are no longer required in Campus Dining venues for fully vaccinated individuals. This includes both dining staff and customers. If you are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including having received a booster if eligible, you must continue to wear a mask in all indoor spaces on campus. You can read more about the latest Cal Poly COVID-19 updates on the Coronavirus website.
Employee health and safety is paramount. With this in mind, all staff are given access to a supply of gloves and face coverings to use while at work. Contactless checkout helps to lessen exposure and handwashing and safety signage is posted throughout to serve as constant reminders.
Campus Dining continues to expand and reinforce Food Safety Management System/HACCP standards and follows all FDA, local and state Department of Health regulations for preparation and service. This includes strict handwashing practices, decreased times between sanitizing surfaces and ensuring each manager is ServSafe certified.
Campus Dining has increased its already thorough sanitation protocols. High-touch surfaces are cleaned and sanitized more often and on a documented schedule. Cleaning Concierges, specially trained employees, are assigned sanitation duties, cleaning tables, chairs, digital ordering devices, tabletops and common touch areas.

In another nod to safety and efficiency, all Campus Dining venues have switched to a cashless purchasing system. This will help to create a quicker, contactless transaction with an easily trackable paper trail and a limited risk of contamination. Cash-only customers can exchange cash for a card at Market Grand Ave or the University Store.
Skip the line and save some time with Grubhub. Grubhub uses credit cards and dining dollars for students on Dining Plans. Simply place your order on the Grubhub app, pay and continue with your day. You’ll receive a text message when your food is ready. And, this process is completely contactless. Bonus.
