Health and Safety Measures

Campus Dining continues to dedicate growing resources, time and energy to creating innovative processes and practices that ensure a safe and enjoyable dining experience. The health, safety and wellbeing of all students, faculty, staff and associates will always be the main focus of every decision Campus Dining makes. Our actions are guided by the university, which is following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health authorities.

NEW DINING EXPERIENCE

The 2020-21 academic year opens with new programs and protocols in place to help keep the campus community safe. These changes include beverage stations with UV sanitizing technology, expanded to-go options served with recyclable packaging, required face coverings for staff and customers, menus that actually help keep areas uncrowded, and physical distancing requirements in all venues.

De-densify venues

De-densify venues

To increase physical distancing Campus Dining has found some new, and some not-so-new, ways to ensure safe dining. Pop-up outdoor cooking, ala Chef’s Table and BBQ Wednesday will happen more often. Curbside pickup? Yep. Say hi to the chef working the grill (from a safe physical distance of course), and get your food to go.

Food Safety

Food Safety

Campus Dining continues to expand and reinforce Food Safety Management System/HACCP standards and follows all FDA, local and state Department of Health regulations for preparation and service. This includes strict handwashing practices, decreased times between sanitizing surfaces and ensuring each manager is ServSafe certified.

Increased Cleaning

Increased Cleaning

Campus Dining has increased its already thorough sanitation protocols. High-touch surfaces are cleaned and sanitized more often and on a documented schedule. Cleaning Concierges, specially trained student employees, are assigned sanitation duties, cleaning tables, chairs, digital ordering devices, tabletops and common touch areas.

Employee Protection

Employee Protection

Employee health and safety is paramount. Each day as employees arrive, they are given a quick wellness check, and access to a supply of gloves and face coverings that are required while at work. Contactless checkout helps to lessen exposure and handwashing and safety signage is posted throughout to serve as constant reminders.

Guest Communication

Guest Communication

Let’s spread the word. Signage has been posted at all venues reminding customers of the safety measure being taken. CalPolyDining.com is updated with hours and offerings, and Campus Dining is all over the socials with current information and specials. Want more?
